Painting....

Why is it that I'm always painting!!

I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment.

I had painted the kitchen white a while back because I didn't really know what color I wanted....just knew that I was tired of the green.

So now I just painted one wall....you know, an accent wall. Hey, I watch HGTV!

It's kind of a light mocha coffee kind of color....I love it!

Thoughts...

A few things on my mind right now......

1. I have a lot to do over the new few weeks...around the house!
2. One thing is painting the small bathroom downstairs, which I will start tomorrow.
3. I almost caved today....there was a chocolate pek-a-poo available and I almost went and got her.
4. Didn't though....I was strong because I knew I needed to wait until after vacation and after the engagement party.
5. I had to make a decision today that has weighed on me for quite some time. It was not an easy decision to make....
6. But I searched my soul, I researched on the internet and I weighed the pros and cons and I know I made the right decision
7. And now I feel better :)
8. Our oldest daughter is  moving from her tiny little 4 room house to a larger home....and she's very excited.
9. Flowers are beautiful and most of the time, very resonable in price. BUT....when you put the word "wedding" in front of the word flowers, well, it's a whole new ballgame!
10. I go back on vacation in 2 weeks.......and I.cannot.wait!!

Butterflies.........

We planted a few butterfly bushes a few years ago.

They have never really attracted many butterflies though.

But not this year....we have seen right many.

They seem to be fluttering around every where.

It's really hard to get a close up of them as I do not use any kind of zoom lens....I only use primary lens so I have to actually be right

up on them.

Quilt....

In love with this quilt. And not just because it's beautiful and not just because it's mine but because my Grandma made it!! My Grandma made it for my Dad. And my parents gave it to me over the weekend!! THANK YOU Mom and Dad!

Good news....

I have mentioned on here before that my Mom has been in the hospital. She had to have bypass surgery. Because she is also in the middle of breast cancer treatments, it took her a little longer to recover from the bypass so she has been in the hospital 3 weeks. BUT...no more!

She is coming home today!!

She said the first thing she wants is for Dad to make her a grilled cheese sandwich... :)

and just because we all know a post with no pics is just not worth reading...here's 2 pics from right outside of the hospital.

Cake tasting...

While down at the beach we had appointments

with the florist and the wedding cake designer.

We arrived for the cake tasting at 12:30 but the cake designer said

our appt was @ 1:30. Weird....and she seemed very distraught.

So no problem, we left and came back at 1:30.

Came in and still, she seemed very distraught.  We were supposed to do the cake tasting there but noticed her packaging up the cake slices.

She then told us that she had just now found out about a death

in her family. We felt so bad for her but she did continue to

talk to us about the cakes and we told her it was fine, we would

get back in touch later.

So we took the samples back to the condo and did our own

cake tasting.

Vacation over....

We have been at the beach for the last week.

fun and very hot!

August is always hot on the Outer Banks!

One morning we were up early and went to the Nags Head Pier for breakfast.

They serve a very yummy breakfast and you get to watch the ocean while you eat!

It just so happen all of the lifeguards were out getting their morning work out.

I snapped this picture and thought it turned out pretty neat...just something about all of them easing out into the water.

Scared....

We had some pretty big storms tonight

and my sweet Chrissy girl gets so upset when it storms

She always has to follow me around, trembling, with a toy in her mouth.

And she will not let you pick her up.

And when she hears the big thunder.........she hides.

So tonight, instead of carrying a toy in her mouth, she carried around

a milk bone.

And then hid behind the sofa....

poor baby!

Happy...

I am just so happy right now and here's why......

• Going to the beach on Friday for FIVE days
• This wedding planning is fun!
• My mom continues to improve....just wish she could hurry up and come home
• my sister-in-laws from GA and TX are coming in 4 weeks
• We're having a big ole engagement party in 4 weeks
• We're going back to the beach in 4 weeks
• And I'm starting a Photoshop class in 4 weeks.

(the last 4 items all happen in the same week..yikes)

whew......I guess until I typed it, didn't realize how busy we are going to be!!

I'm back....

Seriously, I do not think I have ever gone this long without posting.

There has just been way too much going on.

My mom has been in the hospital and had to undergo

bypass surgery! So we have spent as much time

as possible up at the hospital hanging out with her and making her smile :)

She's one tough lady and came through it with flying colors.

And boy can she make an impression! I've even had hospital staff stop me

in the hallway to tell me how sweet my mom is!

So now she is on the road to recovery and may be able to come home

on Wed...yeah for that.

Because of being at the hospital so much, we didn't get to send out

the engagement party invites and the save the dates as early

as I wanted........but it's all good.

I did not go up to the hospital on Thursday so that Jacquelyn and I

could finish them up. Jacq and her future MIL did most of them....thanks Lynne!!

here we are...working hard!

And here's Johnny working hard...........he printed up all of the engagement party invites. We ordered the "save the dates" from Wedding paper divas...good price and great quality. And just printed the engagement party

invites ourself. It is less formal, a backyard BBQ, so we felt

that was ok to do!

they are all going out in the mail today!!

Now off to visit mom, take Chrissy to get haircut, post office, store and then tackle a growing mound of laundry!
