I follow a lot of blogs.....and they are all just wonderful. One of them talked about how your house isn't as cheerful after taking all of the Christmas decorations down....and she's right. I do leave my snowmen up in the kitchen. But she showed how she had done her fireplace mantle with candles and snowflakes. So I decided to copy her. I've always heard that copying someone is the most sincerest form of flattery...right? And I so want to give her credit but I can't for the life of me remember who it was. If anyone out there knows, let me know so I can give her credit...because she inspired me to re-do my mantle for the remainder of the winter.
I didn't know anything about mercury glass until I saw it on some blogs. And wow...loved it! So I've collecting a few pieces. Johnny gave me the tall, fat candlesticks for Christmas. The 2 tall slender ones I got at Target on clearance after Christmas. And the 2 little ones I bought on Saturday on clearance at Pier One....along with the star. I think it looks pretty festive for the remainder of the winter. (click on the picture below and you can't see the mercury glass so much better)

It's gorgeous! And, shoot, winter lasts until March. Best to showcase some of the best stuff!
I don't know whose blog you read, but I did read Joyce at Scrap For Joy and she did leave her winter stuff up.
I think the addition of the lamps makes it so warm! Good for you to keep it decorated. In our next house, I want to switch all the deco for each season. Let's see if I've got that much gumption?
Love it, but never knew that was what it was called. :)
Looks great! I get my best ideas from others!

Great idea! I don't who gave you the original thought either, but she's genius! lol
I love the idea of decorating for winter after you take the Christmas stuff down. I must make a note of that for next year so I can go through my stuff before I pack it away. :)

I love it~

Come on now girl - you don't have to give "credit" for leaving winter stuff up....my mom has done that since the beginning of time. And that was way before blogs ;)
p.s You loving your blog IS what counts. Which is why if ever mine DOESN'T make me happy, I'll stop. And the world won't come to a screeching halt. HA!
