Friday evening.......

we've been getting a lot of storms lately

riding home this evening, we had some really wicked looking clouds to the east and the sun was setting in the west so the tops of the trees were lit up.

made for some really cool pictures.....except that we were driving so I couldn't get my glass to focus real good. I'm still playing with and learning the 50mm af f1.4. And I love it! These are straight out of the camera......no photoshop. Plus a shot of my son....just because he's cute!

Johnny boy has a new ride....

Yes, I will admit it........we took advantage of the "cash for clunkers".

oh well

we traded in Johnny's old truck....a 1987 Ford F150 pick up truck....that still ran pretty good!

but it was time

I mean really, 22 years

I think he was just a little sad, especially when he found out it would be crushed...awwww.

BUT...he got the gov't price and the dealership was doubling what the gover't offered so that's a really hard deal to turn down.

and anyway, he still has his other gas guzzler to tool around in....the 1997 Ford Expedition!

It's a working kind of weekend ya'll........

Johnny boy and I headed back to the horse track on Friday night.......we are gluttons for punishment! We dragged along our son Jake and my dad with us. And we had fun!! We lost but we had fun!! And now the throughbred season at Colonial Downs is finished so for Johnny and I, that's probably a good thing.

I worked on Jake's bathroom yesterday. I had already primed it so painted the trim, walls and ceiling and it wore me out! oh my....you know the kind of tired where you just want to cry, that's how I felt last night.

This morning put up the mini blinds and the new switch plates. Now I'm off to Kohl's to buy new towels and check out their shower curtains. If I should find one I like, then I'll head over to the fabric store to try and match up for some curtains.

I just have so much still to do around here so I'm taking a break today and not cooking the big family dinner. Because it IS a working kind of weekend ya'll..........

and because no post is really a post without some pics....here are some from Friday night at the races. These riders are the escorts for the horses before the race....I had not edited any of the ones with the jockeys. Man...those jockeys sure are small. Some of them looked like they were maybe 14 years old!!

We always stay down in Kill Devil Hills but just a couple of miles up the road is Kitty Hawk. The beaches in KH are much narrower than further down in KDH and Nags Head. Some parts are so narrow that there are not even cottages on the ocean side....so much beach erosion over the years. Can you believe that house that sits right out on the beach! We saw that one when we went down there 8 days after Hurricane Isabel. We figured it would be condemed because surely it had lost it's septic system. But apparently not........people were still in it! It would be cool to stay there but also a little scary.

and I'm really being a grandma tonight

Johnny is working a double shift so he doesn't finish until 11:00 tonight

I'm keeping Maddox so Nicole could go out

and he is such a doll........and so easy to babysit!

Manteo....warning....picture overload!

Johnny and I went over to Manteo, NC while on vacation. It's one of those quaint little towns...we love walking around and seeing the old homes and going into the unique shops. OBX cottages....

Here's a collection of cottages in the Outer Banks........you have anything from a teeny tiny little cottage to million dollar ones! And I just loves the colors.

and I'm also throwing in a pic of myself but please, ignore that gray color in my hair...haha. I'm getting that taken care of this Wed :) And the Nags Head Pier......which also has a restaurant with one of the best breakfast's on the beach!
