Frustrated.....

I am very frustrated with the whole losing weight, going to the gym thing.

Johnny and I started going to the gym about 2 months ago, maybe 2 1/2 months ago. The trainer told us you have to do a combination of weights and cardio. It takes a little while...gotta build up the muscle and then you'll start seeing the weight come off.

So ok.......been going to the gym every other day. I do 10 min warm up on the treadmill then my weight routine takes about 20 to 25 min and then I do 30 minutes cardio.......15 on the bike and 15 on the treadmill. I get my heart rate up so I know I'm working hard. I lost 4 lbs in the beginning and then nothing.

Last week I decided to cut down on my calories even more, which I was probably eating around 1400 a day. So I cut down to 1200 or less......and believe me, most days were less. And last week I lost 2 more lbs. As you can imagine, I was pretty happy and thinking this is it....I have finally hit that point that I will lose.
On Saturday night I strayed from my diet and had 2 small pieces of pizza. And guess what....gained those 2 lbs back!!

So now my new plan is I'm going to quit lifting weights and just do cardio every day. I'm going to try very hard to get up early in the morning and get in 30 min on treadmill before work. I'm not sure how that will go but I'm going to try hard.

I'm very frustrated at this point but I'm sure I can work through it.

If anyone has any tips, Please, Please let me know....it's just awful getting old. When I was younger, if I wanted to drop some weight, I just cut down on eating and maybe drank some slim fast but now, when you're older........it's FREAKIN HARD!!!

and just because she makes me so happy, here's a picture of my Chrissy girl.

later...........

I know it's hard as hell. That 2lbs though is likly just water retention though...pizza is high as hell in sodium.

If you really want my opinion fom years of expereince and an ex who's into body building and powerlifting here goes:

Keep doing the weights increasing a bit each week staying with 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps.

Increase your cardio up to 1 hr and increase your protein intake while cutting back on carbs.

Diet might look like this:
Breakfast: black coffee & oatmeal
Snack: Protein shake
Lunch: 4oz meat, 1-2 veggies
Snack: 1 piece small fruit
Dinner: 4oz meat, 1-2 veggies

If you are truly serious you stick with coffee, unsweet tea and water to drink. No dressing. Mustard instead of mayo. Cheat day 1x per week to keep your body guessing.

And once you get where you want you slowly introduce the other "stuff" back into your diet.

Don't guess that's good news, but I hope it is helpful.

Dad has been bugging me saying "don't you think you should get back to going to the Y??" but I just don't feel like driving to get there. haha.
However, I've been lifting weights 4-6 times a week, and throwing in a workout for abs and legs. Mom said I'm an exercise freak because I'll just stand up in the middle of watching a movie and start lifting weights! haha
